In memory of those who lost their lives at Columbine, I submit
When the green willow weeps in the springtime,
I'll remember the lives that were lost
When young men on a death dealing mission
Had failed to consider the cost.
In darkness of hatred kept secret,
Their minds to the demons they gave.
The result was a scene of raw carnage,
With victims laid low in their grave.
Young people with deep faith and courage,
Snuffed out with their hopes and their dreams.
No chance to survive 'til tomorrow.
Shattered lives torn apart at the seams.
Could America please turn a corner?
Stamp violence out with her feet?
Embrace and protect all her children?
Let safety return to her street?
My prayer for the homes of our nation,
Is that each one would please do their part
To restore to our very foundation
A peace that would live in each heart.
